Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker and team captain Lavonte David is returning for a 14th season. David has agreed to terms on a one-year, $10-million contract with the Bucs, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The deal reportedly includes $9 million guaranteed.

“I love the game too much to give it up just yet,” David wrote on social media Friday. ” … Tampa I’m not done yet.”

David, 35, was again a key defensive starter for Tampa Bay in 2024, leading the team with 122 tackles and helping the Bucs win the NFC South for a fourth straight year. The veteran also recorded nine tackles for loss, six pass breakups, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one interception while appearing in all 17 games.

A former Pro Bowler, David is currently the longest-tenured played on the Buccaneers. He’s registered 1,602 tackles and 39 sacks in 198 career appearances since the team drafted him in the second round in 2012.

David has also claimed three All-Pro berths (one first-team selection) and won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay.
