Star pass-rusher Khalil Mack is returning to the Los Angeles Chargers, sources told Adam Schefter.
Khalil Mack has agreed to a fully guaranteed one-year, $18-million deal, Schefter reports. Mack was scheduled to become a free agent for the first time in his 11-season career.
Mack had considered retirement after Los Angeles lost to the Houston Texans in the Wildcard round this past season. He said at the time that he still believed the Chargers would give him a great shot at competing for a Super Bowl if he decided to play, however.
“As long as Justin Herbert is your quarterback. You got (safety) Derwin James and all these guys that love the game of football and Jim Harbaugh coaching?” Mack said in January. “You know you always have a chance to win. Yeah, that’s a no-brainer.”
Mack, the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year, has been a Pro Bowler in all three of his seasons with the Chargers. The 34-year-old recorded six sacks and 39 tackles in 2024.
The Chargers released edge rusher Joey Bosa this offseason, so it will be interesting to see who will be on the other side of Mack next season.
