The New Orleans Saints have agreed to a three-year, $31.5-million deal with former Kansas City Chiefs safety Justin Reid, a source told Adam Schefter. The contract includes $22.25 million guaranteed, Schefter adds.

Reid, who’s from Louisiana, spent the last three seasons in Kansas City after beginning his career with the Houston Texans. The 28-year-old was a reliable contributor for the Chiefs, only missing two games during his time with the team.

Kansas City made the Super Bowl in each of the three years Reid was a part of its secondary, winning two of those Super Bowls.

Reid has 580 tackles, 10 interceptions, and six sacks across seven NFL seasons. He ranked second on the Chiefs in interceptions (two) and third in total tackles (87) this past season.

The Saints also reworked safety Tyrann Mathieu’s contract earlier in the offseason, keeping the Honey Badger in New Orleans for next season season, a source told Nick Underhill.

Funny enough, Reid’s career is following a very similar trajectory to Mathieu’s now. Reid replaced Mathieu with the Chiefs when the Honey Badger joined the Saints in 2022, and both Louisiana natives played for the Texans before signing with Kansas City.
