The Bears may be without their quarterback versus the Raiders. Quarterback Justin Fields is doubtful for the Chicago Bears’ matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders after suffering a dislocated right thumb, head coach Matt Eberflus said Monday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

It appears that he avoided needing surgery, although there is no official timetable. The team is optimistic that rehab will improve his grip strength and get him back on the field when possible.

Eberflus said that the team will have a better idea of Fields’ availability later on in the week along with a timetable for his return. Fields left the game last week after taking a sack in the third quarter. He did not return to the game.

Tyson Bagent took over for Fields when Fields went out.  Bagent joined Chicago as an undrafted free agent this past spring. He secured the backup job after leaping over Nathan Peterman on the depth chart. It’s unclear who the bears will start at quarterback this week, but it does not seem like it will be Justin Fields.
