It’s already time for Week One of College Football action! Due to the new playoff format, we actually have some super exciting games to look forward to this weekend of Week One action.

After going 2-4 last weekend, we look to continue to ride the wave that is the beginning of the College Football season.

Check out the latest episodes of the JCPod (posting next one 8-29) for my full breakdowns. All odds are a mix/the best number from FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM.

THURSDAY

Colorado -9.5 (-110)

While the talent might not be as deep as it used to be, this is still gonna be a good North Dakota State football team. Regardless, I see this as a potential spot for Colorado to win big. They should have the talent advantage, so they just have to protect the ball and not turn it over. If they are able to do this, I look for them to potentially even run up the score a bit.

Colorado will want to put on an impressive showing, but then must protect Sheduer Sanders as well. This roster is more improved than last year, and I’m excited to see how the impact of Warren Sapp to the defensive line room turns out. With a healthy Travis Hunter mixed in, I look for Colorado to win by 10+

Jacksonville State -3 (-110)

I won’t even lie to you, we are just going back to the well with this one. Jacksonville State did me really good last year, and they showed impressive play in their first year of being in  Conference USA.  Rich Rodriguez is a good coach and he had the guys ready to play, even with stepping up a level last year.

Going into year two I look for them to be able to potentially even compete for a conference title. This could be a close and tough game but I look for Jacksonville State to just be able to pull it out. I loved this number a lot at -2.5, but I’ll take the void chances I guess and roll with the -3

Minnesota moneyline (+106)

This will be North Carolina’s first season without Drake Maye. While Omarian Hampton is a really talented running back, I still don’t know if I believe in this UNC team fully. However, the same could be said for Minnesota. They are hard to figure out every year, as they seem to be good but also seem to be bad at the same time.

However, the home dog  in the Week One opener kind of opened my eyes. I’ll look for Minnesota to be slightly better this year than they were last year, and look for Minnesota to be a bit more ready to play in this game than UNC. If Minnesota is able to shut down Omarian Hampton, I think that they will be able to win this game. Give me Minnesota to win the season opener and defend the home field.

SATURDAY

West Virginia +8.5 (-115)

The dog did us good last week, so why not have it happen again? This will be a very important game for both West Virginia and Penn State. While Penn State potentially could win this game, at least look for West Virginia to keep it competitive. They have Garrett Greene returning, which is good for West Virginia.

Drew Allar is also returning for Penn State, and it is important for him to play well this season. Last year it was 38-15. This year, I look for the West Virginia boys to defend home turf and be able to at least keep it within a touchdown.

Oklahoma State -9.5 (-118)

This will be a very tough game for Oklahoma State, as they are playing the best FCS team in South Dakota State. However, I think this is a spot where Oklahoma State should be able to handle business. They have a lot of guys that are returning, especially on offense with Alan Bowman and Ollie Gordon.

I look for Gordon to be able to get a lot of good runs off in this game, and for the defense to get enough stops for Oklahoma State to dictate the pace and control the game. I think Oklahoma State will have a great season this year, and this will be the first step in that journey. Give me Oklahoma State to win by 10+ points.

Miami -2.5 (-115)

This is another team that I look to be able to have a great season. Miami was able to get Can Ward in the transfer portal, and this may be one of the best Miami teams we’ve seen in recent years. With the schedule they have and the team they got, The U have a really good chance to do something this season. On the other side, Florida is dealing with a super difficult schedule. They play eight ranked teams this season, and this is an important game for them.

Both of these teams could use this win  when to start the season and I think it will be Miami who will get it done. They have more talent than Florida, and I look for this talent to be able to get the job done and cover -2.5.

MONDAY

Boston College +16.5 (-108)

For this bet, it is pretty simple for me to take Boston College and the points. I feel as if  Florida State will bounce back in this game, but I look for Boston College to be able to at least keep it competitive. Thomas Castellanos is more of a runner than Haynes King, and King was able to get loose against Florida State’s defense.

I feel as if Florida State’s defense will improve, but I look for Thomas Castellanos to do just enough to keep Boston College in this game. Florida State may win, but I look for Boston College to at least keep this within 17 with how good their offense can be in moments.

I am curious to see how DJ Uiagalelei along with the Florida State defensive and offensive lines will respond to the bashing they took online and in the media after the loss.
