Its Week 5 in the NFL. There are four teams on bye this week, but we got action everywhere else. Here are my plays for the Week 5 NFL slate.
Check out the latest episodes of the JCPod and Captain By A Hook for my full breakdowns. All odds are from FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM.
Sunday
Colts ML (+110)
The Colts struggled in the first half against the Rams, then really came out explosive in the second half. Shane Steichen has proven himself to be a really good play caller, and I’ve liked what he has done with Anthony Richardson to start the season. The Titans offense has been hit and miss so far this season, and the way to beat the Colts is the passing game. The Titans passing game has been really struggling this season, so I will be taking the Colts here to get the win at home.
Ravens -4.5 (-105)
The Steelers are having a lot of offensive issues right now. They came into this game scoring only six points last week against the Texans, I’m not seeing much that is really good at all on offense. Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens come in off their best game yet so far this season. I like Baltimore to keep the momentum going against the struggling Steelers. So I will be taking the Ravens -4.
Chiefs -3.5 (-110)
The Chiefs travel to a Viking squad that is really struggling right now. The Vikings come off a win, but the offenses really struggled. The Chiefs come in with Patrick Mahomes saying he needs to play a bit better. I like for the Chiefs to cover here and potentially win by about a touchdown. Give me the Chiefs to come into Minnesota and take down the Vikings.
Jets ML (+115)
This is the revenge game for Nathaniel Hackett, and the Jets offense versus Sean Payton. Sean Payton in the off-season said some things about the way Nathaniel Hackett ran the Denver Broncos. The Broncos have been a mess so far to start the season, and it’s been all over the team. The Jets seemed to unlock something last week with Zach Wilson against the Chiefs, so I like them here in this spot. Give me the Jets Moneyline.
Bengals -3 (-115)
The Bengals have been really struggling to start the season so far, and it’s been partially due to Joe Burrow‘s injuries. The rumors out of practice this week is Joe Burrow is the best he has been so far and he potentially Steven all the way healed from his calf injury. Regardless, the Bengals really need a big win to get the season back right. The Cardinals have been a hard team to face, but I like the Bengals and the spot. Give me the Bengals to get back right. I’ll be taking the -3.
Monday
Packers +2.5 (-110)
The Raiders have been having issues again this season and now even players are coming out, saying all they wanna do is Win. The McDaniel’s experiment seems to have not been a success, and I’m not liking what I’ve seen for the Raiders also this season. The only thing I’m scared of here with the Packers is the run game. If the Packers defensive run game is able to shut down Josh Jacobs, I think they will be able to be successful. Give me the Packers Moneyline.
Props
CMC TD (-170)
Christian McCaffrey has been a scoring machine so far this season. He has seven total touchdowns on the season so far for the 49ers. Christian McCaffrey has scored in every game so far the season, and I look for him to do it again. The odds are heavily juiced, but it’s under -200 so I will take it.
