Oooooooh baby back at it for another week of action! One month is in the books, and now we are really seeing who some of these teams are. In tonight’s Thursday Night Football Week 5 action, we will see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel on the road to take on the Atlanta Falcons.
Here are my plays for tonight’s games.
Check out the latest episodes of the JCPod and Captain By A Hook for my full breakdowns. All odds are a mix/the best number from FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM.
Straights
Falcons -1.5 (-110)
I am very nervous about this bet solely based on how these two teams played their last game out. The Buccaneers are coming off an amazing game, where Baker Mayfield and company lit it up against the Eagles. For the Falcons, they didn’t score any touchdowns on offense and it took a 58 yard field goal as time was expiring to win the game.
When it comes to tonight, I feel as if the Falcons will be able to do just enough to win this game. This is gonna be a tough division battle, so I am going to side with the home team. Both these quarterbacks are known for having games where they look great, and also games that are definitely forgettable. It will be interesting to see which versions of Baker and Kirk come out, but I feel as if the Falcons will be able to score on offense enough to win by three.
Props
Sterling Shepard over 19.5 receiving yards (-110)
With Jalen McMillan and Trey Palmer both out tonight, that moved Shepard into the wide receiver three role. Last week, he had three receptions for 51 yards. In tonight’s game, I look for the same amount of receptions. If that is the case, 19.5 yards feels a bit too low.
Mike Evans anytime touchdown (+140)
Mike Evans is coming off playing his best game of the season so far. To be honest, I can’t decide between him or Chris Godwin who’s going to score, so I’m just gonna take them both. They lead the Bucs in receiving touchdowns, and both are plus money tonight. This feels like a good hedge chance with the ever so slight opportunity both score.
Chris Godwin anytime touchdown (+165)
Similar to above, I couldn’t decide between Chris Godwin or Mike Evans. Chris Godwin looks so much better in the offense this year with Liam Coen as OC, and has been making the most of it. With him and Mike Evans both plus money, I’m looking for one if not both the score.
Drake London over 61.5 receiving yards (-110)
London has hit this number two of the last three games, with two games hitting in a row at this number. With Kirk Cousins getting healthier, I look for his chemistry with London to continue to blossom.
With how talented the defensive line is for the Bucs, Kirk will have to make a few throws for the falcons to have the chance. I look for London to be on the receiving end of a lot of targets.
Drake London over 5.5 receptions (+102)
London has six receptions in his last three games, putting him on a NBA Jam. I love this number at 5.5 in that case, and love it even more for plus money.
Parnell’s Nasty Boy Parlay Play of the Day
In tonight’s Thursday Night Football Week 5 game, we have two yardage props, a receptions prop as well as a touchdown scorer. I was able to get odds of +906 (I accidentally used my boost early so no ideas the odds):
- Mike Evans anytime touchdown (+140)
- Drake London over 50 receiving yards (-188)
- Mike Evans over 50 receiving yards (-170)
- Sterling Sheppard over 2.5 receptions (+136)
