Rivalry week is upon us, and we are now just one week away from Conference Championship Week. There are some games that really mater this week, and I have some good plays that I like. Here are my plays for this years rivalry week slate of games.
Check out the latest episodes of the JCPod and Captain By A Hook for my full breakdowns. All odds are a mix/the best number from FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetMGM.
Friday
Oregon State +14.5 (-115)
This game just seems like it will play out a lot closer than people think. Oregon is really good, don’t get me wrong, but this potentially will be the last rivalry game between these two for a while. Due to that, I look for Oregon State to come out even harder in the spot here. This is a really big rivalry, so 14 points is a lot even for how good both of these teams have been playing. I look for Oregon State to keep it within a touchdown.
Saturday
Michigan -3.5 (-108)
This is a game everyone has been talking about all year. And by the looks of it, one loss potentially might not allow you to make the playoffs this year. This game will pretty much get one of these two teams in the playoffs, assuming they beat Iowa in the Big Ten championship. They may even still make the playoffs with a loss to Iowa, but this game matters most. I look for Michigan’s offense to be able to prevail in the end, as I trust in JJ McCarthy, more than I trust in Kyle McCord. I look for Michigan’s run game to be able to impose its well as the game goes on, and be able to take over at the end of it
Jacksonville State -2.5 (-124)
Jacksonville State has been good to me all year, so I’m going to them one last time before the season is over. Due to them just now moving up to FBS, they are not eligible to play in a conference championship game or a bowl game. Due to that, New Mexico State does not have really much to play for this game, as they already clinched a spot in the conference championship. I could definitely see this as a look ahead for them, so I look for the Jacksonville State boys to end their season strong and get the win here.
Florida State -6.5 (-115)
This game will be the backup QB battle, as both starting quarterbacks for each team are done for the season. Due to this, I look at the rest of the team. Florida State has been really good this year, and they need to win out in order to make the playoffs. They should be able to win by a touchdown, as their back up is way better than Florida’s in my opinion. Give me Florida State to be able to win this game by touchdown, and look forward to next week against Louisville.
Northwestern +5.5 (-105)
A win gives Northwestern an even better chance to go bowling. Between them and Illinois, I think I have enjoyed what I’ve seen out of Northwestern more. They have truly turned this season around after a scary start, and I can see them keeping this game close in Champaign. They have been playing strong, and they have to be on the road to cover.
Kansas -6.5 (-120)
Kansas has been having one of its better years in awhile, while Cincinnati has been struggling in its first year in the Big12. In this matchup, I look for Kansas to be able to handle Cincinnati. Cincinnati hasn’t totally been the same since they moved, and they’re still adjusting to being new members of the Big12. Give me Kansas to win this game, strong, and then look forward to a bowl season.
Clemson -7.5 (-110)
Clemson has improved each game now for about a month and a half. While it was still a down year for Clemson, they were able to capitalize and salvage their season. Meanwhile, South Carolina has had not too good of a season at all. I look for Clemson to roll in this game and win big.
