It is crazy too think that after this week, we only have five regular season weeks left to go. There are some massive games this week, as some teams end of season schedule are very doable if they get a big win this week. Week 9 looks to give us an even more clear picture of who the teams that could make the College Football Playoff are.
Here are my plays for College Football Week 9.
Straights
South Florida -4.5 (-120)
Memphis is coming off a heartbreaking loss to UAB last week. That loss most likely killed any chance Memphis had at the CFP. As for USF, a win here gives them a good chance of being a contender for that 12 seed. This will be a tough road test for the Bulls, but this is a team that has no problem at all putting up points. If Memphis wants to win this game, they will have to light up the score board. This should be a very fun game, and I will take USF looking for them to pull away late.
Wake Forest +3.5 (-128)
SMU is 11-0 since joining the ACC, so that streak does have me a bit nervous. However, this could end up being a look ahead spot for the Mustangs. Next week, SMU defends home turf against the Miami Hurricanes. I like for Wake Forest to keep this thing close. SMU may pull it out late to win, so I like that we can get the 3.5 points. I just look for this to be a close game that maybe just maybe Wake Forest might be able to steal.
Oregon -31.5 (-110)
Wisconsin has not scored any points in two straight games. With how good Oregon is, there is a good chance that this game could get as ugly as the Rutgers game last week. I could easily see Oregon winning this game around a score of 44-7.
Illinois +4.5 (-115)
This game could be the game that propels Illinois to the College Football Playoffs. They rest of their schedule is very doable after this game, and that would make them a 10-2 B10 team (won’t make the B10 title game most likely) that lost to Ohio State and Indiana. With so much ahead, they desperately need this win and are coming off an off week.
As for Washington, they have started to cool off a little bit from the hot start they had. They could truly win this game, but they have to play a lot better than they have been. I like for Illinois to at least cover the +4.5 points, but there’s a good chance they could win this outright.

- Oklahoma-Ole Miss under 55.5 points (-154)
