Friday night we got our first chance to see this season’s Gonzaga basketball team. Dawning an electric bright blue uniform, Braden Huff and Gonzaga put on a show.

For the first time in a while Mark Few and the Bulldogs were rumored to have a fall off year. A year where Gonzaga does not win the WCC regular season title due to the hype around an absolute Superstar in Aiden Mahaney at St. Mary’s.

Gonzaga opened the season against Yale and were undervalued by the number books put on them, which was -11.5. Behind five players in double digits and almost doubling Yale in rebounds, Gonzaga is 1-0 after an 86-71 victory.

Gonzaga Basketball. Still Good.

This is possibly the least star studded roster Gonzaga has had in a decade, which is not saying much. Outside of the occasional Adam Morrison and Drew Timme, or Jalen Suggs, or Chet Holmgren; I guess they have had some stars lately huh?

This is what the usual Gonzaga teams looked like, when they where the cinderella’s instead of the hunted. They shot well as a team, with everyone producing. Also out rebounded Yale 42 to 28, which always helps.

Braden Huff off of the bench led the team in points with 19 on 7 for 10 shooting from the floor and three free throws. Huff also grabbed 9 rebounds in his limited 20 minutes of playing time.

Ryan Nembhard dished out 7 assist and scored 16 points of his own, playing all 40 minutes. Nolan Hickman played 39 minutes and scored 15 points. Anton Watson and Graham Ike both scored 11 points, Watson adding 12 rebounds giving him a double-double on the game.

College Basketball is back and this is what it is all about.
