The New York Giants are signing free-agent running back Najee Harris to a one-year deal, according to Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Harris is signing with the Giants after visiting the team on Monday this week.Najee played under head coach Jim Harbaugh with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2025. Now, Harris will now suit up for the other Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, this season.

“I felt like the hair on the back of my neck stood up when I saw him over there, you know? He’s a big dude,” Harbaugh said Monday, according to SNY’s Danny Abriano.

The Giants are planning to release receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster in a corresponding move, sources told Adam Schefter. This move is also a good sign for Odell Beckham Jr. and his chances of making the team.

The 28-year-old Harris missed all but three games last season with the Chargers due to an Achilles injury. He’s expected to provide a veteran option in the Giants’ backfield after making significant strides in his recovery. There is also a lot of speculation that Najee Harris got brought in for his ability to be really good at pass protection.

The former Pro Bowl tailback joins a running back room that features Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy Jr., and Devin Singletary.
