Another quarterback move. Dillon Gabriel entered the transfer portal on Dec. 4. He started all 12 games for the Sooners in 2023 and is now going to replace Bo Nix as Oregon’s starting quarterback.
The 22-year-old spent three seasons as the starting quarterback at UCF before transferring to Oklahoma in 2021.
Gabriel arguably had his best season in 2023 with the Sooners, going 10-2 while throwing for 3,660 yards with 30 touchdown passes and 12 rushing scores.
Due to COVID-19 in 2020 and playing only three games in 2021, Gabriel was granted an extra year of eligibility. He’ll be entering his sixth collegiate season at Oregon next year.
Gabriel will have big shoes to fill, as Nix was one of the best quarterbacks in the nation this season. Bo Nix helped lead the Ducks to 41.1 points per game, ranking fourth in college football, and was named a Heisman Trophy finalist.
