The Houston Texans are signing cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. to a three-year, $90-million extension, according to Adam Schefter.

The deal includes $89 million guaranteed, Schefter adds. The contract makes Stingley the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. He surpasses Jaycee Horn, who signed a deal that paid $25 million per year earlier in March.

Stingley, 23, is coming off a tremendous season that secured him first-team All-Pro honors. He started all 17 games for the first time in his three-year career, racking up 18 passes defended and five interceptions.

Stingley also recorded two interceptions in two playoff games and was a key contributor in Houston’s wild-card round win over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Stingley was selected third overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The LSU product has 36 passes defended and 11 interceptions in 37 career games.

Houston also made an addition to its secondary this offseason by trading for Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.
