Free-agent wide receiver Cooper Kupp has agreed to join the Seattle Seahawks.
Kupp inked a three-year, $45-million deal with Seattle, a source told Adam Schefter.
The Seahawks, New England Patriots, and Dallas Cowboys were reportedly among the teams in play for signing the former Los Angeles Rams receiver. Los Angeles released Kupp after being unable to find a trade partner.
The wideout confirmed he was headed to Seattle on X. A Washington native, Kupp also played college football at Eastern Washington.
The Seahawks hope Kupp can help their receiving room after they traded DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers and released Tyler Lockett this offseason. Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba are expected to lead Seattle’s receiving depth chart. They’ll be joined by veteran wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who the team acquired earlier in free agency.
The Seahawks also made changes at quarterback, signing quarterback Sam Darnold to a three-year, $100.5-million deal in free agency. Darnold will replace Geno Smith, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kupp will face his former team and NFC West rival at least twice a season now as a member of the Seahawks.
The 31-year-old spent eight seasons with the Rams, capturing a Super Bowl and also earning a receiving triple crown after leading the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16) in 2021. He was also named MVP of Super Bowl LVI.
However, Kupp has struggled with injuries since the 2021 campaign: He missed eight games in 2022, five in 2023, and another five last year.
Kupp hauled in 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns in 2024, his final season in Los Angeles.
