The Washington Commanders and wide receiver Terry McLaurin have agreed to a three year extension that is worth up to $96 million, his agents told ESPN last Monday. The extension keeps McLaurin under contract through the 2028 season, while also including a $30-million signing bonus, a source told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
McLaurin originally had one season left on the three-year, $68.2-million contract he signed in 2022. That deal came with a bargain $23.2-million average annual salary, which ranked 17th among NFL wide receivers. He had requested a trade when no deal seemed like it would come into place. However, when he started to ramp back up a couple days after the request, that was a clear sign things were starting to move in the right direction.
His new extension averages $32 million per season, which is tied for sixth among receivers. McLaurin missed the start of training camp in July and was placed on the physically unable to perform list upon arriving. He was activated off the PUP list earlier in August, and it seems like he should be fully good to go by the team’s first game.
Now, everything is all well as the Commanders look to soar to higher heights yet again as Jayden Daniels enters year two.
