The Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms with safety Grant Delpit on a three-year, $36-million contract extension, sources say. The deal includes just over $23 million in guarantees.

Delpit is arguably having the best year of his career in 2023, racking up 74 tackles with three passes defended and six tackles for loss. He’s been the anchor of Cleveland’s secondary, playing at least 96% of the defensive snaps in all but one game this season.

Cleveland’s defense has been stellar against the pass this season, leading the league in passing yards allowed per contest heading into Week 14. Along with the reported signing of Delpit, the Browns signed safety Juan Thornhill to a three-year deal in March.

The 25-year-old Delpit has been with the Browns since they selected him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He suffered a torn Achilles in training camp leading up to his rookie campaign, ultimately ending his season.

Since the injury Delpit became the starter toward the end of his second season and hasn’t looked back. He has started in every game when healthy since Week 11 of the 2021 campaign.

The former LSU product has 245 tackles and six interceptions in 44 career games.
