Chattanooga basketball is coming off of beating Louisville on the road as underdogs. The defense on display by the Mocs caught my eye just as much as the scoring and rebounding. This team is legit.
Dan Earl has this team mentally and physically prepared for the season ahead of them. They sacrifice for one another and the defense rotates efficient showing they have each other’s back out there.
Chattanooga Basketball vs Louisville
Both guards put on scoring exhibitions out there last night. Honor Huff scored 25, a team high. Myles Che added 22 points of his own, getting to the line 6 times, making all 6 free throws.
Sam Alexis recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds to go along with his 16 points. While Tyler Millin also grabbed 11 boards, scoring only 5.
The starting rotation was rounded out by an 8 point and 6 rebound performance from Jan Zidek.
As A Team
Chattanooga’s team stats are not off of the chart by any stretch. Only 41 rebounds, the same as Louisville. Shot the ball above 40% from the field and beyond the arc.
A few elite scoring guards on offense was enough to get it done because of the defense.
This defense while not overwhelming by stats, had the Cardinals staggering at times. Lost and confused, begging for a bucket.
The lead ballooned at one point to 21 for Chattanooga due to their defense having stretches of pure dominance. If they can play this great defensively on a consistent basis, watch out for Chattanooga basketball come March.
