Bill Self came into tonight’s game against Michigan State tied with Phog Allen for the most wins as Kansas’ head coach. Both coaches had 590, and now Self stands atop with 591 and counting with the 77-69 win over Michigan State.

As part of the State Farm Champions Classic Tuesday in Atlanta Michigan State takes on No. 1 Kansas. The Jayhawks came into the game as six and a half point favorites against the feisty 2-0 Spartans.

The Michigan State Spartans went play for play all night long with Kansas on both ends. Michigan State’s defense held Kansas to only 16 points with 6 minutes to go in the first half.

As great teams usually do no matter what is happening, Kansas would go on a run to end the first half. The Jayhawks would hold a six point lead at halftime, 30-24.
