Baylor Beats Auburn.
Auburn basketball and Baylor Basketball opened their season against each other in a huge show down between conferences. Two of the very best from the SEC and the Big12 meeting in what feels like a tournament game. Yet this is only November.
Auburn took command early and went into the half with a lead. The second half was a different story, Baylor ended the game with a win, 88-82.
Stand out performances on both sides in this game. Also both coaches look to have their team ready to play basketball this season.
Auburn’s First Half
Auburn went into the locker room with a 9 point lead and finishing the half with command. Johni Broom and Aden Holloway led the Auburn Tigers, both with stand out performances.
Broom finished with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds. Holloway did more of the scoring, finishing the night with 19 points and 6 assist to go along with his 4 rebounds.
Auburn had more blocks and assist then Baylor, yet fouled at a much higher rate. The stats are nearly identical outside of free throw shooting.
Identical Stats
Both teams shot the ball around the same percentage. Baylor at 43.3% and Auburn at 44.4%. Both teams shot an identical 9 for 19 from the three point line. Also both teams grabbed exactly 42 rebounds.
Both teams also shot below average from the free throw line, which is where this game was won and lost. Baylor shot 34 free throws to Auburn’s 25 and too make matters worse, Auburn made only 68% of their free throws.
Compared to 79.4% from Baylor and you find your 6 point deficit.
Baylor Players Stand Out
Five players for the Bears ended the game with double digit scoring. The kid leading the way was Ja’Kobe Walter who scored 28 points to go along with 6 rebounds.
Jalen Bridges added 18 points and 8 rebounds while RayJ Dennis tallied 15 points and 4 boards. Langston Love and Yves Missi both reach double digits with 10 points a piece.
Baylor and Auburn
Both teams played extremely well last night. It was a treat to watch a game of this magnitude on only the second night of the college hoops season.
