Deion said once they (Colorado) get the trenches right, they will be scary. There looks to be someone who is willing to help. His name is Warren Sapp.

Warren Sapp?

Former NFL defensive lineman Warren Sapp revealed Tuesday on “The Rich Eisen Show” that he’s working on getting his college degree in the hopes of joining Sanders’ staff in 2024.

“I wanna be there next year,” Sapp said. “I’m gonna get everything, the paperwork, and I’m gonna go to work … Sapp’s gonna go get this degree and then we’ll go out and teach these kids these five steps to the quarterback. Because I know something about this game – when you have a quarterback like Shedeur (Sanders) and if my D-line will go hunt the quarterback, our chances of winning just went through the roof.”

He would go on to say “Them kids, you know what, for the first time in my life, I was loved on by some defensive linemen and they wanted to know, like, the keys to the vault,” Sapp said. “I had five, six young men around me, Rich, that was basically ready to strip search me like ‘I know that there’s a key in there, somewhere, that you’re gonna give me.’”

The offensive and defensive lines are for sure the weak spots of the Colorado Buffaloes. They are built outside in, and have a lot of really great shell players. They have the Ferraris on the outside, but will need work on the trenches to take the next step. Colorado has shown they have a chance to be really good, but need the big boys up front to be truly well rounded.

This is what Deion has to say about the idea of Sapp joining his staff.

“I want him to be [on my staff.] It’s different, it’s different Rich. Guys like that, the only reason they won’t go into coaching is because of the time allocated. I don’t need all that. I know him, I know what I need. You don’t need to come here and sit around all day. Come in the morning, we practice at 9, we’re on the field at 9. Get those kids ready in the morning. Work your butt off on the field. After, watch film with them and go home. You’re home by noon.”

Warren Sapp could be a huge addition to the coaching staff. Sapp has been traveling around some with the Buffs throughout the season. He first was popping up in Fort Worth for their season opener against TCU, then returning to Boulder to spit some knowledge to the youngsters on their defensive line.

Is Sapp a good fit?

If you want to learn about the defensive line, this may be a good guy to hear from. In the NFL, Warren Sapp played 13 seasons for the Buccaneers and Raiders. Sapp had 234 solo tackles, 65 assists, 96.5 sacks, 12 fumble recoveries and 4 interceptions. He was selected to play in 7 Pro Bowls. He won 1 Defensive Player of the Year award and 1 championship. Warren Sapp was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2013.
