Today is the start of something special, the 2023-24 college basketball season. As tough as it is to project these teams in their first real game; I am two things. One, a college basketball FANATIC. Two, a gambling junkie.

For opening day I have a moderate 17 bet slate for this Monday. The action will be wall to wall, and so will the amount of tickets I have leaving the sports book.

NCAAB Bets: Totals

When it comes to overs and unders, I believe early in the season we will get a lot of missed jump shots in second halves due to conditioning. Yet there will also be a large amount of wide open buckets due to missed rotations on defense. I look for teams with fast tempos to hit overs early in the season.

I have bet six overs for today.

Radford/North Carolina Over 141.5

St. Peters/Seton Hall Over 126.5

NC Central/Kansas Over 141.5

MS Valley/LSU Over 136.5

Dartmouth/Duke Over 140.5

USC/Kansas State Over 142.5

NCAAB Bets: Favorites

There are of course a ton of big name, big number favorites on the first day of college basketball. Teams schedule games to find a rhythm which ends up with us looking at teams as 20-30 point favorites.

I have bet six favorites for today.

Rutgers -5.5 -120 vs Princeton

Syracuse -14.5 -112 vs New Hampshire

Belmont -6.5 -115 vs Georgia State

Kentucky -17.5 -110 vs New Mexico State

Colorado State -7.5 -120 vs Louisiana Tech

San Diego State -14.5 -105 vs CSU Fullerton

NCAAB Bets: Dogs

While we can have all of the projections we want, we still will never know. Books tend to give favorites out at large numbers, which the public then bets to oblivion. Today I see some value in the + side of some numbers.

I have five bets on underdogs today.

Oral Roberts ML +110 vs UT Arlington

Akron ML +106 vs South Dakota State

Texas Southern +18.5 vs New Mexico

Bellarmine +11.5 -104 vs Washington

Missouri State ML +210 vs West Virginia
