The Baltimore Ravens recently moved on from Greg Roman as offensive coordinator and hired Todd Monken to take over this past offseason. This move is made in hopes of unlocking the passing offense for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

Who is Todd Monken?

Monken is a name that has been around the league for awhile, as early as 2007 as the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since then,he has moved around some with some success. One of these was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where they led the league in passing yards in 2018. Most recently, he was spending the last three seasons as Georgia’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He was a key part in the back to back National Championships, that saw Georgia scoring a combined 98 points in the two games.

Jacksons Endorsement and What to Expect?

So far from the offseason there is one person for sure who is happy with the new offense. Lamar Jackson has recently come out and said” It’s great. I’ve been sending him plays and stuff that I’ve been seeing, and they’re working. So its like, I’m glad he is listening to me, man.” Lamar Jackson goes on a bit later to say “The meeting room… I wish you guys could see the meeting rooms. ‘He is full of expressing what he’s got going on in his mind. His mind is everywhere.’ You know, I’m grateful for him.”

Those are some glowing words from a quarterback who is on his third offensive coordinator since he joined the Ravens in 2018. When it comes to the offense itself, the rumors and word out of the preseason is they are playing fast and throwing more than Lamar has before. Lamar Jackson just signed a big five year 260 million dollar deal as of April. Monken looks to get the pass game of Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens more involved than it has been in the last few seasons. Doing this could be a huge plus for the offense, and make Jackson that much more dangerous.
