Michigan State Loses Season Opener.
Michigan State opened their season at home in East Lansing against James Madison on Monday night. The thriller went into over time as James Madison outlasted the Spartans on the road, 79-76.
Michigan State struggled to find any offense outside of Tyson Walker, who scored a game high of 35 points.
Who Did Michigan State Lose too…
James Madison is not some no name school supposed to get run out of the gym by 40. They are a solid group of disciplined and talented players who have March Madness on their radar.
This team is the favorite to win their conference, and will likely be a bubble team all season.
Led by Terrence Edwards and TJ Bickerstaff, it was apparent that this team can play at a high level and compete with big name programs.
Edwards recorded 24 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assist for James Madison. While Bickerstaff tallied a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds.
TJ Bickerstaff was the biggest force in James Madison topping Michigan State. He dominated the block and the boards. The Spartans center Mady Sissoko only recorded 4 points and 4 rebounds in 21 minutes on the floor.
Michigan State Concern Level?
On a scale of 1-10 they should be around a 2 on the concern level. These players have talent, and I believe just got rudely and abruptly woken up.
The number 4 by your name means nothing if you take your opponents for granted. Michigan State came out to a slow start and only scored 11 points at the 8 minute mark of the 1st half.
The offense will figure it out, the defense will always be there. The only concern is a post presence or the lack there of.
Sissoko will need to at least double his output from last night for this team to win anything. Him averaging around 8 points and grabbing 8 rebounds a game will be huge for this team come January.
