Not only did they trade for him, L’Jarius Sneed will now be getting PAID by the Titans. The Tennessee Titans are signing cornerback L’Jarius Sneed to a four-year, $76.4-million deal that includes $55 million guaranteed and a $20-million signing bonus, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Sneed was recently traded to Tennessee after being franchise tagged by the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs looked for options to keep him and had a few trade options, but the Titans ultimately had the best deal for the Chiefs.
The deal matches what Sneed was expected to sign shortly after being dealt to the Titans, per Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report.
Sneed’s $19.1-million average ranks sixth at his position, trailing Jaire Alexander, Denzel Ward, Marshon Lattimore, Marlon Humphrey, and Trevon Diggs, according to Spotrac.
With guarantees however, Sneed ranked fourth among corners, coming in behind Ward, Humphrey, and Lattimore.
Sneed totaled 17 total tackles, three pass deflections, and a forced fumble (which was game changing) during the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning playoff run in 2023.
L’Jarius has appeared in 57 games, making 54 starts, since being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 draft out of Louisiana Tech. He owns 303 total tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, 40 pass deflections, and four forced fumbles.
Sneed has been a really good corner for the Chiefs and this will be a tough loss. This is not the most shocking news, as a few weeks ago L’Jarius said “they don’t have enough money to pay me and Chris Jones.”
Sneed looks to be a great add for the Titans. Meanwhile, the Chiefs will have a hole to fill/replace in the secondary as they look for a third straight Super Bowl title.
